Sumlang Lake
One of the Luzon destinations with the fastest-growing tourism is Lake Sumlang in Camalig, Albay, which is best known as a captivating backdrop to the magnificent cone-shaped Mount Mayon volcano. Sumlang Lake is a 14-hectare body of water that was formerly covered entirely in lilies. However, the villagers saw its beauty and the possibility that it could draw tourists. So, only three years ago, the villages undertook a significant cleanup with the assistance of the local government, and it was then that the lake's full beauty became apparent. Also adding to the lovely scene is the view of Mount Mayon from its back.
A variety of activities are available for visitors to enjoy while visiting the lake. Kayaks, paddleboards, aqua-bikes, and floating cottages are some of the rental options. On bamboo rafts, they provide balsa trips where boatmen carefully navigate their way across the serene pond.
The best time to go is either late afternoon to see the sunset where the lake nicely frames Mount Mayon or early in the morning around dawn. Visitors to the Philippines can enjoy the greatest view during the so-called "golden hour”.
