Lake Dojran
To the west is the city of Nov Dojran, the east the village of Mouries, the north the mountain Belasica/Beles and to the south the Greek town of Doirani, we have lake Dojran. This is the smallest tectonic lake, occupies only an area of 42.7 square kilometers, of which 27.1 belong to Macedonia, and 15.6 to Greece. Being exposed to the influence of the mild sea climate of the Aegean Sea, Lake Dojran lies at an altitude of only 148 meters. Despite being the smallest tectonic lake, lake Dojran is the third largest lake partially in North Macedonia after Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa.
This is a round-shaped lakes that has both beautiful nature and lively lifestyle, since this is a famous tourist attraction loved by many tourists from all over the world. You can enjoy the view and participating in many kinds of water sports. Moreover, this lake is also well-known for the fishing technique which employs cormorants, which exists only in China. Don't hesitate to give it a try when you visit there.
However, lake Dojran has been struggling for its survival during last year. The reason for that was the uncontrolled use of water for farming by Greece. Macedonia ecologists have initiated a number of international actions for its protection. But even so, the lake still attracts numerous numbers of tourists.
