Lake Krn
Next to Kobarid, in the Triglav National Park, you will find the Alpine Krn Lake. The lake is not only the most beautiful glacial lake in the Krn Mountains (2,244 m) but also one of the most beautiful lakes in Slovenia. It is only accessible by hiking and every year, countless tourists admire it.
The bluish water blends in beautifully with the surroundings. It is a location that many photographers adore since it is so gorgeous. If you're fortunate and there isn't any wind, the lake will play host to a fantastic reflection game.
The lake is roughly 400 meters long, 150 meters wide, and has a depth of 17 meters. It features a diverse environment with 24 kinds of animals and about 40 species of plants that live in the water (mainly algae) (small crayfish prevail). It is not permitted to swim in the lake to protect the ecosystem. However, a lot of hikers do bathe their feet in the water to refresh themselves after the climb. After the hike, you’re rewarded with a fantastic view of the lake surrounded by mighty mountains. On the way, you can also get homemade curd, cheese, or cottage cheese, but if you're in the mood for more, try some fantastic regional cuisine at the lakeside hotel.
