Lake Zelenci
Declared a nature reserve in 1992 because of its incredible natural and geological beauty, Zelenci Nature reserve is a must-visit for travelers to Slovenia. And Lake Zelenci is evaluated as one of the most beautiful lakes in Slovenia.
The reserve is renowned for its emerald-green lake, a natural spring that seeped through layers of sedimentary rock from the underground Nadiza creek below, and is situated on 15 hectares of unspoiled Slovenian wilderness. In actuality, Zelenci, which means green in Slovenian, is the name of the entire reserve.
To reach the lake and its swampy surrounds, take a specific wooden trail. An unforgettable green adventure awaits you. Numerous fascinating plant species, like the carnivorous sundew, may be found in this nature reserve, and the majority of the creatures are nesting birds and amphibians.
You will be in awe of the glistening turquoise waters as soon as you set foot on one of the charming wooden walks. And is especially stunning when visited in the winter. Since then, both locals and visitors alike have come to love it.
