Malata – Valletta
The Malata restaurant is located in the heart of Valletta's medieval city, directly across from the Grand Masters Palace. The eating experience at Malata, a homey restaurant in the center of Valletta with a friendly and calm ambiance, is characterized by a combination of Maltese, French, and Mediterranean food. The Grand Master's Palace, which overlooks the square where Malata is located, has outdoor tables with great views of the city.
Fresh fish and locally sourced foods are included on the cuisine, which is complemented by a good wine list. Malata's regular jazz nights are also a highlight, adding the finishing touch to an already exceptional dining experience. For the past five years, Malata has honed its menu of outstanding French and Mediterranean cuisine, utilizing local products to assure freshness and quality. The chef recommends the exquisite Chateaubriand for Two with Bearnaise Sauce and Gratin Dauphinois Potatoes, which is his specialty. In the summer, the restaurant serves lunch and dinner al fresco on the huge shaded terrace, and in the winter, dining in the 500-year-old cellar with its vaulted ceilings is an experience in itself. Dining in this candlelight restaurant while being served by expert staff is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Every Tuesday and Friday from 20:00 to roughly 23:00, a live Jazz band performs with a repertoire ranging from Latin Jazz, New Orleans, Classical, Swing, and Contemporary music.
