Maungmagan Beach
Maungmagan Beach, on the Dawei peninsula, was a favorite of the British, who developed it into an exclusive beach vacation destination among the south Myanmar beaches. Long after they left, it was recognized as one of Myanmar's best beaches due to its crystal clear waters, isolated position, and fantastic seafood available in local restaurants.
Because it is the closest beach to Dawei port town, Maungmagan Beach attracts a large number of inhabitants as well as tourists visiting the city. In contrast to other beaches, the beachfront here is fringed by pine trees. If you walk south from the beach, you will get to the fishing village.
In the evening, take in the breathtaking views of the sunset. Go swimming or snorkeling. In the morning, watch local life develop as the village market buzzes with fisherman selling their fresh catch.
How to get there: Fly into Dawei Airport and take a leased motorcycle or a local taxi to the beach. Dawei is also a five-hour journey west of the Thai border crossing at Htee Kee.
