Meenvallam Waterfalls
The Meenvallam Waterfalls, a hidden gem in the Palakkad district, cascade from heights of up to 45 meters into the Thuppanadu River, which springs in the Kalladikodan Hills. Thuppanadu River eventually merges with the Thoothapuzha River, which discharges into the Bharathapuzha River. The waterfalls are located 8 kilometers deep into the forests from Thuppanad Junction on the Palakkad-Manarkkad Route of NH 213, and they have captured the attention of many of the guests.
The Palakkad District Panchayat has built a modest hydel project at Meenvallam with an installed capacity of three megawatts. Thudikkode Vana Samrakshana Samathi of Olavakkode Range in Palakkad Forest Division protects and maintains the waterfalls and surrounding region. The woodlands that surround the waterfalls are part of the Silent Valley National Park. The waterfall is 34 kilometers from Palakkad and 26 kilometers from Mannarkkad.
