Memories of the Alhambra
Memories of the Alhambra is a South Korean TV show. The series, which is set primarily in Spain (but also in South Korea in later episodes), revolves around a company CEO and a hostel owner who becomes involved in a series of mysterious incidents involving a new and intricate augmented reality game inspired by the stories of the Alhambra Palace.
Yoo Jin-woo (Hyun Bin), CEO of an investment firm that specializes in optical devices, travels to Granada, Spain, after receiving an email about a groundbreaking AR game about medieval battles in the Alhambra. However, Se-joo (Park Chan-yeol), the creator of the game, has gone missing, and it is at this point that Jin-woo meets Se-joo's older sister, Jung Hee-joo (Park Shin-hye), the owner of the hostel where he is staying and a former guitarist. Both become entangled in mysterious incidents as the line between the real world and Se-joo's AR world begins to blur.
The drama is one of the most popular Korean dramas in cable television history, and it has received praise for its inventive plot and unexpected twists. The title also refers to Francisco Tárrega's eponymous classical guitar piece Recuerdos de la Alhambra, which appears on the series' soundtrack.
