Museum of the American Revolution
The Museum of the American Revolution (previously The American Revolution Center) is a museum dedicated to recounting the narrative of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On April 19, 2017, the 242nd anniversary of the initial engagements of the war, at Lexington and Concord, the museum opened to the public.
The museum has a large collection of artwork and sculpture, as well as textiles and weaponry, manuscripts, and rare books. Permanent and special exhibition galleries, theaters, and large-scale tableaux depict personalities and events, engaging visitors in the history of the American Revolution and its current importance.
The chairman of the Board of Directors is General John P. Jumper. In November 2018, Dr. R. Scott Stephenson was named president and CEO. H. F. "Gerry" Lenfest, a media entrepreneur and philanthropist from the Philadelphia region, served as chairman of the board of directors from 2005 to 2016 and was essential in the Museum's inauguration in 2017.
