Alessio Cremonini directed the Italian drama film On My Skin, which starred Alessandro Borghi. The film is based on the true tale of Stefano Cucchi, a 31-year-old construction surveyor who died in 2009 while in preventive detention as a result of police abuse.
'On My Skin' is a true-crime film about the week leading up to Stefano Cucchi's (Alessandro Borghi) death in 2009. Cucchi, a young, talented man from Rome, had his entire life ahead of him. He had decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a construction surveyor. He was also a part-time boxer. On October 15, 2009, he is detained for having hashish, cocaine, and a prescription for an epileptic medication. The following is a heinous example of police brutality. He is severely assaulted before being brought before the court. Regardless, he never tells anybody about the beating. The judge arranges his trial a month later, forcing him to stay in Regina Coeli. His family desperately tries to see him, but all their efforts are prevented by a corrupted system. Cucchi succumbs to his injuries on October 22. Only then, his family is allowed access to his body.
