It will be available on Netflix on December 9, 2020. The film 'Rose Island' is inspired on the actual story of Giorgio Rosa, who formed a micronation off the coast of Rimini.

Giorgio is first shown as someone who disagrees with the Italian legal system, which leads to frequent run-ins with the authorities. As a result, when he discovers an opportunity to establish a nation on an island just beyond the authority of Italy, he seizes it and gradually begins construction on his own micronation. Rose Island grows into an independent country over time, replete with its own language, currency, postal system, and a soon-to-be-launched citizenship procedure. However, things start to go wrong when the Italian government perceives the island as a danger and threatens to depose Giorgio.
