The Life Ahead (2020)

The Life Ahead is a 2020 Italian drama film directed by Edoardo Ponti and based on a script written by Ponti and Ugo Chiti. It is the third film version of Romain Gary's 1975 novel The Life Before Us. It is set in Bari, Italy, and stars Sophia Loren, Ibrahima Gueye, and Abril Zamora.

Madam Rosa, a former prostitute and Holocaust survivor, has settled into a new life in Bari, Apulia, Italy, where she homes the homeless and less fortunate. Momo, a 12-year-old orphaned Senegalese, robs her one day and is quickly apprehended by his foster guardian, Dr. Coen. Rosa and Momo form a lovely and unbreakable friendship after agreeing to take in the kid for a few months, which will keep them together until death separates them.
