Orange is the New Black (2013-2019)

Orange Is the New Black (sometimes abbreviated to OITNB) is an American comedy-drama streaming television series created by Jenji Kohan for Netflix. Piper Kerman's novel Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison (2010), on her experiences in FCI Danbury, a minimum-security federal prison, is the basis for the series. Orange Is the New Black launched on Netflix on July 11, 2013, and was produced by Tilted Productions in collaboration with Lionsgate Television.

It follows the story of a young lady who is sentenced to prison for transporting narcotics with her lesbian girlfriend in her prior life. Because this is her first time in jail, she gradually adapts to her surroundings and forms relationships that may lead to future troubles. The series received 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations in its debut season, winning three of them, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
