Wentworth (2013-2021)
Wentworth is a bit like an Australian version of 'Orange Is the New Black,' but with a more serious tone. It is a television drama series set in Australia. It premiered on SoHo on May 1, 2013, and ended on Fox Showcase on October 26, 2021, with its 100th episode.
The series is a modern remake of Network Ten's Prisoner, which aired from 1979 to 1986. Wentworth was created by Lara Radulovich and David Hannam based on Reg Watson's original concept. The series is set in the modern-day and follows Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), the show's protagonist, who is on trial for attempting to murder her own husband. While she waits for further instructions on her trial, she must adjust to life in jail and make friends with whoever she can in order to live.
