Time: The Khalif Browder Story (2017)
Time: The Kalief Browder Story is a six-episode American documentary television miniseries that premiered on March 1, 2017, on Spike. Time is "very likely one of the most devastating documents I have ever seen and one of the most important: It seems impossible to watch this and not want to take action", Julianne Escobedo Shepherd wrote for Jezebel.
The film tells the story of Kalief Browder, a Bronx high school student who was charged with a crime he did not commit at the young age of 16 and sentenced to three years in Rikers Island Prison. He was accused of attempting to steal a rucksack, and since his family was unable to pay the $900 bail, he was sentenced to three years in jail for no fault of his own. He committed suicide shortly after his release from jail when the charges against him were dismissed.
