Pi Pizza
Pi Pizza Battersea is the first London location of a pizza company founded in Winchester. Inside, there's a lot of green: thick greenery drapes from the ceiling, and there's a real tree in the main space, giving it a piazza-like vibe. Waiters are also friendly. The pizzas are the stars of the show. You're urged to order a "half and half," selecting from a variety of high-quality artisanal toppings at no extra charge. One such pizza was delicious, with wild boar salami and piquillo peppers—the two components brought together by a thwack of chili. A creamy white foundation with artichokes and lardo was also served; the cured pork fat was beautifully tempered with rosemary and pink peppercorns. A simple margherita contained splodges of mozzarella and a delightfully airy dough (fermented for up to 72 hours using a secret method).
Aside from the pizzas, Pi Pizza may be stingy with the details. A burrata appetizer showed no signs of the 'caramelised' black fig being cooked in any manner (though the other starter, a pancetta arancini, was deliciously crisp and salty). The dessert gelato was subpar, and the meringue tart was flavorless. Pi Pizza, on the other hand, is the business when it comes to pizza. This is one of the best pizza takeaways for delivery in London that you can't miss.
