Resident Evil 0

Resident Evil Zero is a survival horror game released in 2002 for the GameCube by Capcom. It is a precursor to Resident Evil (1996), detailing the adventures of the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team, an elite police force squad. Officer Rebecca Chambers and inmate Billy Coen investigate an abandoned training center for workers of the pharmaceutical corporation Umbrella in the novel. The gameplay is similar to previous Resident Evil games, but this time you may swap between characters to solve puzzles and employ unique powers.

Resident Evil Zero was created on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. The partner system was designed to make use of the reduced load times made available by the Nintendo 64 Game Pak's capabilities. The cartridge format also had limits, as its storage capacity was far lower than that of a CD-ROM. To save storage space, the team had to approach the design differently than prior series entries. Resident Evil Zero was intended to be more challenging than previous Resident Evil games. Inspired by Sweet Home (1989), the developers ditched the item storage boxes used in previous games in favor of a novel object-dropping function. When the team ran into memory storage issues, development halted, and work was relocated to the newly announced GameCube.
