Rurouni Kenshin

Rurouni Kenshin also known as Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story or Samurai X, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1994 to 1999. The story is about an assassin named Himura Kenshin, who is known by the nickname Hitokiri Battōsai ("Assassin - Quick Sword Drawer"). Kenshin (Sword Heart) then regrets what he did and vows not to kill anyone again. He becomes a wanderer who travels the world, using his reverse blade to protect the weak. Ten years later, he meets Kamiya Kaoru and has stayed at her dojo. Amazing sword fights, tearful jokes of ironic fates, an ingenious blend of history, martial arts, and romance.

Rurouni Kenshin was once one of the best-selling manga series, Rurouni Kenshin is a successful manga in both aspects: historical and shounen (with a bit of romance too). The sword fights (especially the unique moves of each character) are carefully and meticulously invested, creating a unique rhythm and emphasis for each match. This is also quite subtle because each match if readers pay close attention, will see different nature and atmosphere. As of December 2019, Rurouni Kenshin has sold 72 million copies worldwide.
