Rutland
Rutland is the county seat of Rutland County, Vermont, United States. It lies 65 miles north of the Massachusetts state line, 35 miles west of the New Hampshire state line, and 20 miles east of the New York state line.
Rutland has a charming historic downtown full of community events, arts, and character, and it is conveniently located in central Vermont near several mountains and lakes. With dozens of shops and restaurants, as well as a world-class performing arts center, historic Downtown Rutland is the hub of Rutland County.
Make your way to the famed Vermont Farmers Market in Depot Park, then get a snack and perhaps a local brew at one of the many privately owned localvore eateries before seeing a show at the magnificently restored 1912 Paramount Theatre. Downtown has a variety of special events, such as the Friday Night Live concert series, yearly sidewalk sales, and Santa's Arrival & Tree Lighting.
Downtown Rutland is conveniently placed in the heart of outdoor fun, with lakes, ski mountains, hiking, bicycling, and more just minutes away. Rutland offers it all: ski in Killington, mountain bike in Pine Hill Park, visit nearby Mendon, or walk the world-famous Long Trail.
