Sultan Qaboos University
Sultan Qaboos University, located in Al Seeb in the Muscat Governorate, is the Sultanate of Oman's only public university.
The majority of students admitted to university are chosen based on their performance in high school final examinations. Enrollment has increased from 500 in 1986 to more than 10,000 in 2005. Due to space constraints, more than half of the students live off campus. It currently has approximately 15,357 students, with 7,942 female students and 7,415 male students. The university has nine colleges, which are as follows:

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) is the top university in Oman. According to the London-based Quacquarelli Symonds, SQU is ranked 379th among the world's top universities (QS). The university is also ranked number 10 in the QS Arab Region 2019 ranking, as well as 151-200 in the QS Subject Matter Ranking.
