The Austin Pride Parade
The mission of The Austin Pride Foundation is to educate, resource, and connect the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community in Austin, Texas. The TAPF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2010, is entirely operated by volunteers and is tasked with overseeing and planning Austin's annual PRIDE Celebration and Stonewall Rally.
For several years, Austin Pride led the effort to get rainbow crosswalks installed at 4th and Colorado. They witnessed that desire come true in October of last year. Their safe haven has always been 4th Street, and now everyone is aware of this. "It will stand as a beacon and a symbol of diversity to everyone who lives in and visits Austin, as a city that is friendly to and accepting of everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity", the municipal proclamation stated in part. Austin Pride hosted a free picture shoot following installation for everyone to take part in and enjoy.
