Toppi, one of the most celebrated Italian illustrators of the twentieth century, is known for his poignant short fiction – presenting the reader with fables and myths made fresh and irresistibly enchanting by artwork that can be entirely otherworldly one moment and astonishing in its verisimilitude the next. His work is woefully underrepresented on the shelves of non-Italian comic book stores, making it all the more precious when discovered.
