Zot! Book 1 by Scott McCloud
Before writing Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud wrote and drew Zot!, an ongoing science fiction/superhero series for Eclipse Comics during the peak of the '80s comics movement.
Zot! is one of the comics industry's forgotten gems, having been nominated for eight Eisner Awards and four Harvey Awards during the course of its nearly five-year serial publication. The publisher of its earliest collected editions has been out of business for more than two decades, and Zot! has been out of print since its final all-in-one edition in 2008. Zot! is a whimsical, at times brazenly teenage tale that revels in a dogged optimism reminiscent of old-school superhero comics.
