The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Based on the 2005 book by Swedish author Stieg Larsson, the 2011 neo-noir psychological thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was helmed by David Fincher, while Steven Zaillian wrote the screenplay. It chronicles the tale of journalist Mikael Blomkvist's pursuit to learn what happened to a girl from an affluent family who vanished 40 years earlier and stars Daniel Craig as Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander. He enlists the aid of computer hacker Salander.
This movie, a collaboration between the US, UK, Sweden, and Germany, began development at Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2009. The business needed a few months to secure the novel's rights while simultaneously hiring Zaillian and Fincher. Craig had scheduling issues, and several women were considered for the role of Lisbeth Salander throughout the lengthy and difficult casting process for the lead roles. The writing of the script took more than six months, including three months spent reading and analyzing the novel.
