The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Yorgos Lanthimos' 2017 psychological horror-thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer is based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthymis Filippou. Alicia Silverstone, Bill Camp, Raffey Cassidy, Sunny Suljic, Barry Keoghan, Colin Farrell, and Nicole Kidman are among the actors who appear in it. The ancient Greek tragedy Iphigenia in Aulis by Euripides served as the basis for this tale. The movie centers on a cardiac surgeon (Farrell) who develops a close friendship with a little boy (Keoghan) who has ties to his past. He presents the boy to his family, who thereafter start to experience strange illnesses.

At the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, The Killing of a Sacred Deer was chosen to compete for the Palme d'Or in the main competition section. A24 and Curzon Artificial Eye both released it in theaters on October 20, 2017, in the United States, and on November 3, 2017, in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Positive reviews have been given to it, and it has made over $7 million globally.
