In order to pay off his debts, Jewish-American jeweler and gambling addict Howard Ratner (Sandler) must collect a pricey gem from New York City's Diamond District. His narrative is told in the movie. The Telluride Film Festival hosted the international premiere of Uncut Gems on August 30, 2019. Prior to its broad distribution by A24 on December 25, it began its restricted release in the US on December 13, 2019. The movie got positive reviews, and many critics hailed Sandler's performance as the best of his career. The National Board of Review selected it as one of the top ten movies of 2019.
