Thugs of Hindostan

Thugs of Hindostan is a 2018 action-adventure film written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. The film is set during the period of Company control in India and follows Firangi Mallah, a small-time thug from Awadh, who is hired by an East India Company officer to infiltrate and counter a band of criminals.

Thugs of Hindostan is one of the most expensive Bollywood films, with an estimated budget of $41 million. The film marks Khan and Bachchan's first collaboration as protagonists, as well as the second collaboration between Khan, Acharya, and Kaif following Dhoom 3 (2013), and between Khan and Shaikh after the latter's debut in Khan-produced Dangal. The film's principal photography began on June 5, 2017, in Malta, and it was also shot in Thailand and Mehrangarh. Filming was wrapped in March 2018, with the final schedule finished in Rajasthan.

Thugs of Hindostan was released on November 8, 2018, during the Diwali festival week. It garnered largely unfavorable reviews from reviewers and audiences, with acclaim for Bachchan and Khan's performances but criticism for Acharya's directing, screenplay, plot, and supporting cast performances. The film had the best first-day and two-day collections for any Hindi film in India, as well as the fourth-largest opening weekend in India, but had a dramatic decline on the second day. Thugs of Hindostan has made $48 million at the movie office globally.
