The University of Piura (Spanish: Universidad de Piura; "UDEP") is a Peruvian private university. It has two campuses, the main one in Piura and a newer one in Lima's Miraflores District. During a meeting with professors from the University of Navarra in Spain in 1964, Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei, decided to establish a new university. St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer founded it, and it was officially recognized as a university in 1969.
Piura Piura Campus is home to UDEP's main campus, which spans 130 hectares. More over half of the area is desert reclaimed. It is densely forested with mesquite trees, and it is home to squirrels, deer, foxes, peacocks, lizards, and many birds. The Piura Campus began construction in the late 1960s, with much of its infrastructure funded by international aid from the governments of Italy, Spain, Germany, and Canada. [Citation required]
Lima UDEP has two campuses in the city of Lima. The undergraduate students are located in the heart of Lima's Miraflores District, a lovely district on the Pacific coast. The graduate campus for Business Management is located in Lima's Surco area. Its MBA program is regarded as one of the best in Peru.
