Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola
St. Ignatius of Loyola University (Spanish: Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola) (USIL) is a private university in Lima, Peru. It is part of a group of educational institutions founded in 1995 by former Peruvian Vice President Raúl Diez Canseco, which also includes an institute and two schools. It has an Undergraduate Program with 8 schools and 33 careers, as well as a Graduate Program. USIL places a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and hospitality management, which is consistent with the school's mission statement of "shaping competent entrepreneurial professionals who are socially responsible and capable of performing successfully, both domestically and internationally."
There are two campuses in total. The first campus is named after Fernando Belaúnde Terry, Peruvian President from 1963 to 1968 and again from 1980 to 1985. It is the university's original campus, with a classroom capacity of approximately 4000 students. Its facilities, in addition to classrooms, include the following:
- Deans' and other administrative offices
- Laboratories
- Library
- Reading and research centres
- TV and radio studios
- Cafeteria
- Don Ignacio Restaurant (run by students from the Culinary Arts major)
The second campus is named after Peruvian navy hero Miguel Grau Seminario from the Pacific War. It comprises eight floors of classrooms, as well as the Graduate Programme, Junior Achievement Peru offices, and other administrative offices, a cafeteria, student centers, and the university's book store. It is now being expanded to include at least two more buildings to suit the recent rise in student enrollment.
