Westerland on Sylt
Sylt is a tiny island with over 25 kilometres of beaches. The white sands of Königin der Nordsee (Queen of the North Sea) against Rotes Kliff (red cliffs) in Kampen are extraordinarily magnificent. Exploring beautiful beaches is similar to landing on another planet. The west coast's Westerland beach features finely maintained sands and luxury hotels. Wenningstedt-beaches Braderup's are ideal for families due to their calm seas. Alternatively, imagine yourself in the exotically called Samoa and Sansibar. If the attractions of Sylt have drawn a throng, head to the neighbouring island of Amrum, where the Wadden Sea beaches normally have more seals than people.
Westerland places a strong emphasis on tourism. Whether it's a holiday apartment, a holiday house, a guesthouse, or a hotel, there's something for everyone. This town serves as Sylt's hub, serving people and visitors from all over the island. Driving on Westerland's well-maintained road network is permitted, as it is on every other North Frisian island. Westerland, on the other hand, can be reached by auto train from Niebüll. This railway, known as the "Marsh Rail," connects the stations of Elmshorn in the south and Westerland in the north, and transports passengers through the 11.3km long Hindenburgdamm through the Wadden Sea.
The Sylt Transport Society's buses travel south to Hörnum and north to List due to Westerland's central location. Westerland has two town buses: one runs through the north of town to the North Sea Clinic, while the other runs through the south. Westerland may also be reached by regular and charter planes flying into Sylt airport, which is approximately 3 kilometers east of the city center.
Westerland offers a comprehensive choice of recreational activities. This town has an activity for every season, whether indoors or outside, relaxed or vigorous. Enjoy Sylt's stunning natural surroundings, miles of dreamy beaches, and the town's healthy climate, for example. Those looking for a little more action can work out at the light-filled Syltness Center gym. Its comprehensive fitness and leisure program offers something for everyone's taste. The Sylter Welle (Sylt Wave) is ideal for water rats, with sophisticated water fun including action in the wave pools and three water slides, as well as pure relaxation in whirlpools or massage pools. You can relax on the sun deck close to the outdoor area while admiring the magnificent views of the beach and the ocean. The pool facility also has a sauna, a gym, and a café.
