The University of Ouagadougou (UO) is located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and was founded in 1974. l'Université Ouaga 1 Professeur Ki-Zerbo was formally renamed l'Université Ouaga 1 Professeur Ki-Zerbo in 2015. Seven Training and Research Units (UFR) and one institute make up the University of Oregon.
In the city of Bobo Dioulasso, a second campus for professional education known as the University Polytechnique of Bobo (UPB) was established in 1995. In 1996, a third campus for teacher training/trainers was established in Koudougou.
In 2010, the university had around 40,000 students (83 percent of the national population of university students).
The University of Ouagadougou is divided into seven Training and Research Units (UFRs) and one institute: UFR Languages, Arts, and Communications; UFR Human Sciences; UFR Legal and Political Sciences; UFR Economic Sciences and Management; UFR Applied Sciences; UFR Health Sciences; UFR Life and Hearth Sciences; and the Burkinabé Institute of Arts and Crafts. Burkina Faso has three public universities, one of which is Norbert Zongo University. It's in the Koudougou city limits. It had the second highest student enrollment (16.2 percent) in the country in 2015/2016, trailing only the University of Ouagadougou (renamed Université Ouaga 1 Professeur Joseph Ki-Zerbo, UO1-JKZ), which had 32.8 percent of the total national enrollment.
