Aberystwyth University
Aberystwyth University began in 1872 as the University College of Wales. It became a founding constituent college of the University of Wales in 1894. Aberystwyth University regained its independence when the University of Wales restructured in 2007. Prince Charles is one of its prominent graduates.
Aberystwyth University in Wales rounds out the list of the UK's most attractive ancient universities. It claims to have formed the world's first formal department of international politics, which was established in 1919 in the aftermath of World War I.
The Old College building, which resembles a medieval castle, houses the majority of Aberystwyth University's administration, as well as the departments of Welsh and education. Currently, the university is ranked 485th in the world.
