Austral University of Chile
The Austral Institution of Chile (UACh) is a research university in Chile with a main campus in Valdivia and a satellite campus in Puerto Montt. It is one of the eight original Chilean Traditional Universities, having been founded on September 7, 1954. It is a private law nonprofit self-owned corporation that receives major public assistance.
In terms of scientific research, UACh is one of Chile's top institutions. Archaeology, dairy technology, and science are just a few of the domains where UACh scientists have made significant contributions. Several scientific periodicals are published by the university.
Austral University of Chile was placed 30th among Latin American institutions, 5th among Chilean universities, and second among Chilean universities outside Santiago in a 2011 university ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds. El Mercurio placed it second in scientific research only to the University of Chile, and it was the third university to receive the majority of government Mecesup research money in 2008.
