Diego Portales University
In 1982, Diego Portales University (UDP) was established. It was the creation of the founders of the Professional Institute of Sales and Advertising (IPEVE), which had been around for about 20 years at the time.
The Bachelor of Arts degree program was established in 1994 after degree courses in advertising and design were transferred from IPEVE to Diego Portales University. The Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Fine Arts was established in 1999, as was the Faculty of Humanities.
In 2002, UDP took a stride forward in its development by launching new programs and branching out into two new disciplines of study: health and education. The next year, UDP devised a strategy for long-term infrastructure growth that included the issuance of a World Bank-guaranteed Security Bond worth around US$25 million, making it the first educational institution to do so.
In more than 25 countries, UDP has forged partnerships and agreements with prestigious universities, research institutes, foundations, and international organizations. UDP has partnerships in place with 120 universities.
Because of the growing relevance of knowledge in national development, UDP has launched a research and knowledge production program aimed at finding answers to high-impact national problems.
