Back Forty Beer Company
The name of the Back Forty Beer Company was inspired by an old agricultural term used to refer to the 40 acres furthest from the barn.
In 2008, after several years in the corporate world and with over 150 brewery tours, founder Jason Wilson contacted the renowned Brewmaster Jamie Ray and asked for his help in developing the recipes for Back Forty Beer Company. The goal was simple - expose Southerners to the same craft beer culture that Wilson has been involved in for the past ten years. This means starting with a classic beer style and growing with the customer along the way. Jamie agreed and in January 2009, he would become the first employee of Back Forty.
In June 2009, Back Forty released its first product, Naked Pig Pale Ale. The beer was only available in its home market of North-Central Alabama, but the response was strong, and in March 2010 Back Forty's second product hit the shelves, the Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale.
