Basmati Rice
Basmati rice, a variety of long-grain rice produced in India and Pakistan, is aged for a year to develop its distinctive flavor and aroma. For approximately a dollar per pound, you may get Basmati rice from your neighborhood grocery shop or online. It has a distinct smell, but the taste is worth it.
Both white and whole-grain Basmati rice are accessible, and they are both excellent choices for curries because they enhance the flavors of the food. When cooked, the long grains remain thin and separate, which is ideal for stuffings, rice salads, and even rice cakes. In fact, the traditional recipe for Arroz con Leche, or rice cakes, is made using these grains of rice so that they have the ability to absorb all the deliciously sweet flavors of cream of milk, cinnamon, and sugar.
