Bingham Academy

Bingham Academy is ideally situated to collaborate with Ethiopian, foreign, and missionary families to provide every student with the tools they need to make a lasting difference in the world. The teaching staff, who represent more than 13 different nationalities, is dedicated to providing generations with the tools they need to transform the world for the better while upholding the highest standards of Christian education.

Kindergarten, Kindergarten 2, and Grades 1–5 are taught at the Bingham Academy Elementary School. KG1 follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, which is based in Britain. The Cambridge International Primary Curriculum is used for English, Mathematics, and Science in Grades KG2 through 5, with additional resources for the other important subjects.

The following subjects are required of all elementary school students each week: PSSHE, English, Math, Science/Social Studies, Physical Education, Library, Music, Technology, and Art. Additionally, Amharic, the national language of Ethiopia, will be taught in grades 1 through 5.

There will be progress tests for students in Grades 2 through 5. But students in Grade 5 will also take Checkpoint tests. Term 4 classes are when these tests, which are offered by Cambridge International, are administered. There is a playground and outdoor area exclusively for KG1 and KG2. Additionally, Grades 1 and 2 have access to a fantastic elementary playground, and Grades 3 and 4 have a miniature rope course.

The Middle School (Grades 6–8) and the High School (Grades 9–12) are combined to form the secondary school. The Gowans Center is the site of most middle school and high school courses.

The Cambridge International Lower Secondary Curriculum is followed by students in Grades 6 through 8 for the core subjects of English, science, and math. At Bingham Academy, PSSHE, English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, PE, ICT, and either Drama or Music are required core subjects for our middle school students.

The International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) is used by students in Grades 9 through 10. Since IGCSE courses must be finished by the end of the grade 10 year, students in grades 9 and 10 select only subjects from Grade 9.

PSSHE, English, Math, Coordinated Science, Geography or History, a Foreign Language, and an Elective such as PE, ICT, Drama, Music, or Art are among the core subjects that students in Grades 9 and 10 at Bingham Academy study.

The International AS and A levels are used by students in grades 11 and 12. As many subjects as possible for Grades 11 and 12 are offered by Bingham Academy, given staff and space constraints. For students in Grades 11 and 12, PSSHE (Personal, Spiritual, Social, and Health Education) is a mandatory subject.

Four 'AS' level subjects or a combination of four 'AS-level, IGCSE, or non-CIE courses, as available, must be taken by all Grade 11 students. Three "A" level subjects must be taken by all Grade 12 students, or they may choose to combine four "A" level, "AS" level, IGCSE, or non-CIE subjects from the available options.
