One Planet International School
One of the few upscale schools in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is One Planet International School. One Planet thinks that an all-encompassing approach to education that prioritizes both academic achievement and character development would be the most beneficial to Ethiopia's future.
The Hidden Gems Scholarship Fund, which provides a one-year scholarship that covers tuition and materials for orphaned and street girls, is one of the scholarships that donors sponsor.
The school is a private institution with accreditation from the Ethiopian Ministry of Education. Its curriculum and instructional strategies are grounded in international standards and research. Both Amharic and English are used for instruction. A virtue curriculum that is based on The Virtues Project is also available.
The Cambridge International Curriculum serves as the main foundation for the primary curriculum, which has been enhanced and modified to include an international school approach to learning and a local understanding of culture through One Planet's vision. Pupils put in a lot of effort, and their performance in the past is used to gauge their success.
The main program is divided into age-based six-year groups using the naming conventions of the Cambridge Curriculum. The following subjects are covered in the primary curriculum: Social Studies, English, Amharic, Math, Science, Art, Music, Physical Education, Virtue Education, and Information Technology.
Students in One Planet International School Lower Secondary decide to take part in the various clubs, volunteer opportunities, and social discussions that exist in their communities. Working on projects is crucial for both individuals and groups. Additionally, there are many options for students to delve deeper into their areas of interest outside of the classroom through relevant extracurricular activities and in-class experiences.
Students work toward earning the IGCSE credentials provided by the Cambridge International Assessment during Years 10 and 11. Academically demanding, the two-year IGCSE program is regarded as one of the best in the world for this age group. There are distinct international components and content in many of the subjects.
IGCSEs in more than six subjects will be awarded to One Planet students, providing them with the necessary preparation for the next level of education and flexibility to pursue extracurricular interests.
