International Community School of Addis Ababa
Another name appearance on the list of the best international schools in Ethiopia is the International Community School of Addis Ababa. This cutting-edge, historically significant university emphasizes highly effective learning experiences, global citizenship, and community wellness. About 1,000 students from 67 different countries are enrolled in the school.
A tract of fifteen acres (61,000 m2) is home to ICS Addis. A sports pavilion and a 300-meter track honoring Haile Gebrselassie are two features of the school's sports complex. Adjacent to the main campus on a different campus is the Early Childhood area. Classrooms and laboratories are available in the middle school's New Classroom Building (NCB).
Outstanding ninth-grade students from schools all across Addis Ababa are awarded four scholarships annually by ICS Addis. Every scholarship provides full tuition for four years, allowing the recipient to attend ICS for their entire high school career. Merit-based, need-blind scholarships are awarded.
Being a fully accredited IB Primary Year Program (PYP) school, International Community School uses Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to promote individualized learning where students receive instruction based on their needs and learning styles.
Students are assisted in making progress toward acquiring self-confidence, maturing a more mature, perceptive, and imaginative way of thinking, and comprehending the world and people around them through the use of a research-based, high-quality curriculum and cooperative PLC teaching teams.
The middle program at ICS is a bustling community of experts who have a profound understanding of the particular, ever-changing academic, emotional, and physical needs of middle school students, needs that must be met using a growth mindset strategy.
Teachers at this school support learning through inquiry, action, and reflection because it is an embodiment of professional learning communities. The layout of the classrooms is designed to promote and strengthen cooperative learning.
The goal of International Community School is to develop a highly effective and progressive learning program that takes into account the individual needs and interests of each student. The ICS High School program fulfills the goals of globally mobile students by offering globally recognized credentials as an accredited international school.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) method used by ICS. At the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels, the majority of students' learning needs are satisfied in a classroom environment. However, there are instances in which the school must provide an extra layer of more intensive support to promptly, specifically, and individually address a student's academic, speech, and/or occupational therapy needs. Tier 3 intervention is the term for this.
