German Embassy School Addis Ababa is one of the best international schools in Ethiopia. It has more than ninety years of outstanding educational history. Throughout that time, the school has remained faithful to its basic principles of community, respect, accountability, and individualized learning.

From Kindergarten through grade 12, passionate teachers collaborate closely with students in small groups to meet their individual needs and develop their potential. Pupils continuously achieve high standards and develop into kind, environmentally conscious citizens.

There are about 105 kindergarten students at German Embassy School Addis Ababa, ranging in age from one to six years. The kids are divided into groups of sixteen to twenty, with Ethiopian teaching assistants and German-speaking teachers in charge.

The educational philosophy of the German Embassy School is in line with the Thuringian Curriculum; it emphasizes language, math, music, art, science, motor skills, and sociocultural education as key areas of child development. For kids with special needs, the research-based KonLab language program promotes early language development. Kids receive KonLab instruction for one to two hours every day.

About 105 students in grades 1-4 are enrolled in DBSAA's main program. Small class sizes—15 maximum—enable close teacher-student interaction. The academic program encourages multilingualism by covering both core German subjects and English starting in grade 1.

German, mathematics, English, physical education, art, music, and religion are among the core subjects for which the academic program aims to develop cultural literacy and learning skills. The curriculum of the German Embassy School, which emphasizes developing skills in communication, self-directed learning, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, and presentation, is also incorporated into the lessons.

Lower secondary (grades 5–10) is served by the secondary school. The curriculum closely complies with Thuringia state standards in Germany. Among the core subjects are math, science, German, English, humanities, arts, physical education, and more. Five hours a week are dedicated to the special focus of learning German. With an average class size of 12–15, teachers can provide each student with individualized attention and support.

Pupils work toward certification in German: a diploma after grade 9 and a diploma at the end of grade 10. The eighth-grade DSD I exam certifies German proficiency, while the tenth-grade DSD II exam certifies advanced level B2/C1. DSD II is approved for use at German universities. Upon completing Grade 10, students can advance to Upper Secondary to pursue additional qualifications.
