Students in Pre-KG through Grade 10 are served by Kelem International School (KIS). It was first established in 1946 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the auspices of the Swedish Embassy. KIS fosters the development of resilient, curious, open-minded, and introspective students who can express themselves effectively and confidently. It also helps each child reach their full potential.

To best meet the needs of kindergarten students, Kelem International School integrates the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) into the Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). The KG students' developmental needs and global best practices in early childhood education are recognized in the research-based IEYC curriculum.

The IEYC groups "subjects" into four major strands to facilitate play-based learning and holistic inquiry in support of important learning areas. Enquiring, Dependency and Interdependence, Communication, Healthy Living, and Physical Wellbeing are the four primary strands.

Learning strands are substituted in grades 1–4 with subjects taught by qualified, specialized teachers. The core subjects of math, science, social studies, and English language arts are taught five times a week to the students. The specialized subjects of world language (Amharic and French), physical education, music, and visual arts and crafts are taught twice a week. A teaching assistant and homeroom teacher oversee each class and offer ongoing pastoral support.

The special responsibility of grades 5-8 is to ensure that students complete their studies in the basic education syllabus by providing guidance and support during these years of intense development and store maintenance. Kelem International School is aware that schools at this age must provide a nurturing environment that values relationships, responsibility, and respect to meet the changing emotional, social, and academic needs of teenagers.

Caring for and interacting with each student as an individual, as well as utilizing a variety of working methods and learning environments, all increase students' motivation to study. Students have the chance to participate in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, such as clubs, sports, and the arts. These activities encourage a love of learning as well as creativity, compassion, and sportsmanship.
