Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV)
The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) is one of Switzerland's five university hospitals, located in Lausanne. The CHUV is affiliated with the University of Lausanne's Faculty of Biology and Medicine (UNIL). The medical services provided by the CHUV benefit about 45,000 people each year. Every year, over 3,000 babies are born in the obstetrics department. The CHUV employs approximately 9,000 people.
The university hospital serves as a general university hospital for residents of Lausanne, providing care in all disciplines of medicine. It also functions as a hospital, providing acute and specialty treatment to the entire Canton of Vaud as well as portions of French-speaking Switzerland.
It is a pioneer hospital in areas of expertise recognized at the Swiss, European, and even international level. The CHUV also conducts community medical and health missions, as well as supports public health and prevention programs.
