Heidelberg University Hospital (UKL-HD)
With 43 specialized clinical departments, Heidelberg University Hospital (UKL-HD) is one of Europe's leading medical centers and is part of Germany's oldest university. It's closely linked to Heidelberg University Medical School, which was founded in 1388 and is thus the oldest in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Hundreds of thousands of patients from all over Germany and other countries visit us each year to benefit from our state-of-the-art treatment facilities. UKL-HD and the Medical Faculty share the same goal: to develop novel diagnostic and treatment procedures at the cutting edge of biomedical science for the benefit of all patients.
At the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg and Heidelberg University Hospital, research entails a close link between laboratory work and medical care, rapid translation of new findings into clinical trials, up-to-date teaching in line with current practice, and well-targeted promotion of young researchers. It is distinguished by a high level of multidisciplinary collaboration that extends beyond departmental and institute borders, particularly in basic and clinical research.
