Control
Control is an action-adventure game released by 505 Games and developed by Remedy Entertainment. The game was launched in August 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and in February 2021 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In October 2020, a cloud-based version for the Nintendo Switch was published, followed by a Stadia version in July 2021. When the service was made accessible to the general public in March 2022, it was available on Luna. The game also received two paid expansions.
Control is a third-person shooter designed with Remedy's proprietary Northlight Engine, which was initially utilized on the company's prior product Quantum Break. The fictitious Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) analyzes Altered World Events (AWEs) and gathers and examines Objects of Power from these AWEs within the Oldest House, a featureless Brutalist skyscraper in New York City. The inside of the Oldest House, an Object of Power in and of itself, is significantly greater than the outside, a huge, continually shifting supernatural world that defies the rules of spacetime.
At the start of the game, an entity known as the Hiss is attempting to transcend a dimensional barrier into our reality and has taken over many areas of the Oldest House, rearranging its design to suit its demands, as well as many FBC personnel to fight for it. The player takes control of Jesse Faden, who has gone to the Oldest House in search of information concerning her brother following a previous AWE but becomes entangled in the battle against the Hiss.
