Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal is a first-person shooter game published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by id Software. It was launched on March 20, 2020, for Windows, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version following on December 8, 2020, and versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S following on June 29, 2021. The plot picks up some time after the events of the 2016 game, with the Doomslayer on a mission to stop Hell's absorption of Earth and prevent the extraterrestrial Maykr's ambitions to annihilate mankind.
A multiplayer option, Battlemode, was launched alongside the single-player narrative. In this mode, players can battle as either the Doom Slayer or a demon until either the Doom Slayer or the demons are defeated. Doom Eternal had strong critical reception, with acclaim for its storyline, visuals, level design, soundtrack, and combat mechanics, however, some criticized the increased emphasis on storytelling and platforming parts. Doom Eternal was nominated for five Game Awards in 2020, including Game of the Year and Best Action Game.
