Darkwood
Acid Wizard Studio created Darkwood, a top-down survival horror computer game. On July 24, 2014, the game was published on Steam Early Access, and on August 17, 2017, it was released as a complete game for Microsoft Windows, macOS, SteamOS, and Ubuntu. The game is set in a strange dark woodland somewhere in the Polish People's Republic, or, according to the makers, another territory of the Soviet Bloc, where the main characters have been imprisoned. During the Nindies Nintendo Direct on March 20, 2019, a Nintendo Switch version was revealed, and it was published on May 16, 2019.
The game has a semi-open environment in which the user unlocks additional regions as the plot advances. It also has a crafting system, a day/night cycle, trading and NPC interaction, a skill system, stealth and combat, and many plot paths that change various parts of the universe. If the player makes it through the night, they will acquire a reputation with the merchant, which they may use to trade for more costly products. If a player dies over the night, they will awaken the next morning with no reputation. If the player dies while scavenging, they will lose half of their inventory, which will be marked on the map for subsequent collecting.
Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch
