Oxenfree

Night School Studio created and released Oxenfree, a supernatural mystery/horror graphic adventure game. It was launched in January 2016 for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Xbox One. Later in 2016, PlayStation 4 and Linux versions were launched, followed by iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch versions in 2017. In Oxenfree, players take on the role of Alex, a teenage girl on a weekend excursion to a nearby island. Alex and her pals must solve the secrets of the island when seemingly supernatural happenings occur.

Night School Studio's first game. The creators sought to build a story-driven game without cutscenes, enabling players to traverse the area freely, inspired by classic adolescent films and coming-of-age programs. The visual presentation of Oxenfree combines dark, organic, and analog components with bright, geometric, and computerized ones. The game's soundtrack was written by musician scntfc, who used digital music production techniques as well as classic analog tape recorders and receivers.
