Debre Markos University
Debre Markos University (DMU) is a research university that is open to the public. DMU lies in a region blessed with ideal weather and abundant natural resources, such as the Choke Mountains water-shade, which contains six separate agro-ecology zones within a 50 km (31 mi) radius and is the source of multiple Nile tributaries, and the Upper Blue Nile Gorge.
Debre Markos University was established in January 2005. DMU began the teaching-learning process two years later with 760 regular students, 53 academic and 34 support personnel, and 21 contract employees, and the name Debre Markos University was formally revealed.
The university currently has three campuses, five colleges, two schools, and three institutes. The University is divided into nine colleges, institutes, and schools: the College of Social Science and Humanity, Natural and Computational Science, Business and Economics, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health Science, the Debre Markos Institute of Technology, Law, Medicine, and the Institute of Land Administration.
