Haramaya University
Haramaya University, formerly known as Alemaya University, was established in 1954 on the initiative of Emperor Haile Selassie to modernize Ethiopian agriculture in particular and education in general through the establishment of an agricultural college and training programs. The institution was established in its current location at the request of the Emperor.
Until 1963, Oklahoma State University was given the authority to build and manage the university. In terms of study disciplines and facilities, the university has expanded substantially in recent years.
Haramaya University is a well-known and renowned institution in Ethiopia. The University has educated many people who have contributed to the improvement and development of the world. Professor Gebisa Ejeta is a recent example, having received the World Food Prize, which many regards to be agriculture's Nobel Prize.
Haramaya University has served as a storehouse of knowledge for many other minds who have made it their mission to help humanity and enhance our world.
It aspires to be regarded nationally and internationally for excellence in learning, teaching, research, and community participation as one of Ethiopia's first and oldest institutions of higher learning. The university is not only a fantastic place to spend fantastic student years, but it is also a place where students may grow intellectually and receive a degree that is recognized by corporations all over the world.
