District Brew Yards
District Brew Yards, one of the best breweries and taprooms in Chicago, takes the pour-your-own-beer fad and transports it to a brewery taproom. This brewery is a fun concept and a great chance to mix up the after work beer routine. It’s also close to the United Center. If you’re going to a game or concert, this would be a great pregame spot.
It’s a collaboration between Burnt City Brewing, Around The Bend, and Bold Dog, and there are customer-operated taps for all three, along with a fourth section for rotating experimental beers. Guests receive a card upon entering that allows them to pour their own beers at four different stations throughout the bright and airy brewpub.
It has a food hall vibe with big wooden tables that are perfect for getting work done or playing a board game with friends, and the huge windows that open up onto Ashland keep it from feeling too industrial. There’s also a full-service BBQ kitchen, so there’s really no excuse to leave until they close. Make sure to check out the back of the brewery, where Lillie’s Q serves pulled pork, ribs, brisket and its famous tri-tip sandwiches.
